Art started as a journey of self-discovery. I was 19 when I began to truly feel that Art was something born within me, as if a set of wings uncovered to set me free from the chains and limitations of the world.
I began to use art as a sort of therapy, as a way to communicate to my loved ones, what was within me. It was a place where I can place my dreams, create them, and watch them grow.
It was during my sophomore year of college that I truly fell in love with Art. It was during my second year of studying Psychology with a focus in Child Development, that I met a professor who encouraged me to paint. I began painting that year and found colors expressing my emotions beautifully. I found that the visual world was a great tool for expression. I decided then to double major in both Art and Psychology and until this day I find no separation between the two.
Art is a tool to express the soul, Psychology—the mind. Together, you dive deep into the matters and questions of the self. I believe anyone willing to dig deep enough into their own heart—will find so much light ready to be discovered.
Art gave me optimism, and Art has guided me a long way.
